Frutarom moves into skin care

Flavour and fine ingredients specialist Frutarom Inc has introduced its first line of natural ingredients for use in skin care products.

“The cosmetic market is changing rapidly,” comments Laurent Leduc, vp of Frutarom’s health division. “While cosmetic companies penetrate the beauty from within market, dietary supplement manufacturers are expanding their product lines to include cosmetic applications. It is an important strategic move for Frutarom to bring its expertise to the skin care market.”

The first product available from Frutarom’s Natures Essence for Skin Care line will be Alguard, a bioactive skin shield made from red microalgae. According to the company, Alguard provides a reduction in skin roughness of up to 20% immediately after application and a 20% reduction in the length and depth of fine lines.

The line, which is said to be suitable for use in cosmetic and nutricosmetic products, will also include polysaccharides derived from the ocean, ingredients inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine and pure botanical powders.
