The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) has appointed Nathalie Berger Duquene as the new Senior Vice President and Global General Manager for Balmain Beauty.
The cosmetics goliath announced its partnership with Balmain last week to create a range of beauty products for the French luxury fashion house.
The collection is expected to launch globally in autumn 2024, but exact details have not yet been revealed.
Berger Duquene is said to play a key leadership role in the development of retail strategies and innovations for the new beauty range.
She joined ELC in June 2019 as VP and General Manager of Tom Ford Beauty, as well as the EMEA division of fragrance and cosmetics brand Kilian Paris.
Before this she served as Managing Director of L'oreal's French Perfumes Business.
She will report to Guillaume Jesel, who was recently promoted to President of Global Brands overseeing Tom Ford Beauty and Balmain Beauty.
“Drawing from the authentic heritage of Balmain, Nathalie will partner with me and the team at Balmain to establish Balmain Beauty as the future of luxury, couture beauty,” said Jesel.
“With more than 20 years of experience in luxury beauty marketing, Nathalie is ideally suited to take on this position and help bring our new visionary luxury brand Balmain Beauty to market, and into the hands of consumers globally.”
ELC said its goal with the partnership is to “transform the luxury and couture beauty world” through “exceptional design” and “singular craftsmanship”.
Balmain was founded in 1945 by Pierre Balmain, and operates stores in New York City, London, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami and in Milan.
The company’s Creative Director, Olivier Rousteing, will work closely with ELC on the new collaboration.
“For over ten years, my Balmain team and I have been pushing the boundaries of what is possible in fashion,” said Rousteing.
“From the very beginning, the team at The Estée Lauder Companies made it very clear that they support Balmain’s distinctive vision, as well as our goal of disrupting the global luxury beauty paradigm.
“Knowing that — and knowing that Estée Lauder is the paragon of excellence — well, I can’t wait to start working with them.”
