EFSA hits back over conflict of interest allegations
Claims code of conduct objectivity
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), which assesses the safety of some cosmetic ingredients, has rebuffed claims from campaign group Corporate Europe Observatory that EFSA specialist panel experts have overly close links to the industries they regulate.
EFSA executive director Catherine Geslain-Lanéelle said the agency’s declarations of interests and code of conduct were sufficiently comprehensive to ensure objectivity.
