eBay loses first appeal in LVMH case

The Paris court of appeal has confirmed the earlier judgement of the commercial court that eBay must pay damages to luxury products group LVMH.


The Paris court of appeal has confirmed the earlier judgement of the commercial court that eBay must pay damages to luxury products group LVMH.

The appeal court has ruled specifically that eBay is to pay €50,000 per day if it continues the online sale of Dior, Guerlain, Givenchy and Kenzo beauty products and perfumes. eBay has in any event to pay almost €40m in damages to LVMH for the marketing of counterfeit products. The US group is understood to be considering a further appeal.
