Dupont restructures to cope with drop in sales

The luxury products group S T Dupont, whose operations include sales and distribution of fragrances, has reported strong growth in sales in France, western Europe and Hong Kong-China offset by a fall in sales to distributors and agents.


The luxury products group S T Dupont, whose operations include sales and distribution of fragrances, has reported strong growth in sales in France, western Europe and Hong Kong-China offset by a fall in sales to distributors and agents.

Sales for Q3 (Oct-Dec 2009) rose by 23% in France and increased overall by 1.6%. Sales in the nine month period April-December dropped 3.7% to around €45.9m. Gross margin went down 15.9% on low sales activity overall and a decision to reduce inventory levels. A restructuring programme was introduced in Q3 to adapt to the forecast level of sales and this is expected to affect results in the final quarter of 2009-10.
