Family run US personal care company Dr. Bronner’s has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting diversity in the US and beyond.
The company has taken a renewed stand for diversity following President Trump’s recent executive order to temporarily ban travellers from seven countries for 90-days.
At the beginning of February, Trump banned travellers from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen citing terrorism as the motivating factor, as opposed to religion, which Trump said the media had falsely suggested.
For Dr Bronner, the tragic consequences of racial and religious divisions were all too real.
Dr. Bronner’s has consequently announced it will donate $50,000 to the National Immigration Law Center.
The company said it was inspired to do this in memory of its Founder Emanuel Bronner, who lost his parents in the Holocaust.
“For Dr Bronner, the tragic consequences of racial and religious divisions were all too real,” the company stated.
Bronner coined the brand’s tagline: “We are All-One or None!” and also promoted a message of “love and unity, not hate and revenge”.
Dr. Bronner’s sister companies include Serendipalm in Ghana and Serendipol in Sri Lanka. The teams there include leaders who are Muslim.
The company also sources olive oil from Muslim and Christian farmers in Palestine, as well as Jewish, Christian and Muslim farmers in Israel.
The brand noted that its US workforce in North County San Diego is predominantly of Mexican ancestry.
