In the competitive Best Functional Ingredient Innovation category, CPL Aromas stood out with an innovative, water-based alternative to fine fragrance that has long relied on ethanol.
Curtis Packaging, and its innovation Pearls of Packaging, was awarded the win for its approach to making premium visual effects more accessible, practical and scalable.

By applying inks, coatings and varnishing techniques to conventional cartonboard, Curtis Packaging created a pearlescent and premium finish, while avoiding the cost, rigidity and supply limitations assocated with many secondary packaging formats.
The innovation's commercial viability was further reinforced by the submission's use of real-world case studies from the likes of Charlotte Tilbury and Tropic Skincare, evidencing its existing success and its potential for broader adoption across the beauty and personal care industry.
Vaus was equally impressed by the innovation's thoughtful approach to sustainability, including its foil waste recovery and use of water-based coatings, reflecting the industry's growing focus on reducing waste.
Overall, its usability, environmental responsibility and commercial impact showcased its potential to influence future secondary packaging trends across cosmetics.
