Croda bucks recession with pre-tax profit boom
Croda International Inc has said that it is confident about 2009 following impressive sales results and a major increase in pre-tax profits in 2008. The chemicals specialist announced pre-tax profits of £98.4m, a 78.3% increase on last year’s pre-tax profit of $55.2m. Croda’s sales also grew 18.8% from £804.8m in 2007 to £956.4m.

The consumer care sector, which includes personal care, health care, home care and crop care, fared especially well with fourth quarter sales up 46.4%.
Chairman Martin Flower said that the company’s ability to “weather turbulent economic conditions” demonstrated Croda’s “robustness”.
