French beauty federation Fébea has told providers of digital apps assessing the quality and safety of cosmetics that they should demonstrate greater scientific rigour in order to avoid misleading consumers.
The move comes after the recent publication by French consumer rights magazine, UFC-Que Choisir of the new version of the app QuelCosmetic and the proliferation of similar apps in recent months, including Yuka, CleanBeauty, Inci beauty and cosmethics.
“Much of the information contained in the applications is incorrect, obsolete, partial or even inappropriate,” said Fébea.
