Certification body the Soil Association says the certified organic and natural products market grew by 13% in 2020

The UK’s organic certification body the Soil Association has revealed the positive impact the pandemic has had on purchases of organic beauty goods.

28% of consumers said the move to online shopping in light of Covid lockdowns made them more likely to buy organic beauty and wellbeing products.

Moreover, half of consumers who already bought organic beauty and wellbeing items said the pandemic had made them more likely to buy these products.

The data, compiled in late 2020 as part of the Soil Association’s 2021 Organic Beauty & Wellbeing Market Report, demonstrated the market for organic and natural products grew by 13% last year with sales topping £120m.

COSMOS (of which the Soil Association is a part) is the largest global standard for certified organic and natural cosmetics with 40,000 certified products and ingredients: up 40% on the prior year.
