Increased focus on Asia market

Speciality chemicals company Cognis has continued to exhibit strong growth in the second half of 2010, reporting an increase in sales of 18.2% to €2.3bn during the first nine months of 2010, as compared to the same period of 2009. Net profit for the period reached €184m, an increase of €183m on the first nine months of the previous year.

The company’s care chemicals business increased by 17.9% driven by higher sales volumes in European markets, according to Cognis.

Regionally, Cognis’ fastest growing market was Asia Pacific, up 31% on the prior year period. Cognis intends to further capitalise on the Asian market by exhibiting at this year’s HPCI India Congress in Mumbai. Among the ingredients on display will be Cognis’ plant-derived APG surfactants and PEG/EO-free cationic rheology control additive for skin can hair care.
