Cognis expected to sell for at least €3.5bn
Several European groups interested in acquiring the German speciality chemicals company
Several European groups are reportedly interested in acquiring German speciality chemicals company Cognis. It is understood that Goldman Sachs Capital Partners and Permira are offering Cognis at a price of at least €3.5bn. They are not making any comment on negotiations at present though several European companies are said to be interested, including BASF.
The two capital funds refused lower offers for the company in 2006.
