Siloxane D5 in the clear
A key cosmetics ingredient has secured a clean bill of health in Canada despite a 14-month review over environmental health concerns.
The country’s environment ministry concluded that siloxane D5, which helps blend and formulate cosmetics, is safe and its use should be unrestricted. The announcement overrules a 2009 ministry recommendation to include siloxane D5 onto Canada’s toxic substances list.
