Burberry has announced plans to transfer approximately 300 of its employees to a new office in Leeds.
The company said that the move would strengthen its commitment to the UK and Yorkshire, the home of its iconic trench coat.
Described as a ‘centre of excellence’, the new location will house teams targeting UK and EMEIA markets working across finance, HR and procurement, customer service and IT.
Christopher Bailey, Chief Creative and CEO of Burberry Group, said: “This is an important move for Burberry as we continue to deliver on the strategic priorities we outlined last year.”
Burberry plans to make at least £100m in cost savings by fiscal year 2019.
The company said that the office move will also generate “significant” savings allowing it to downsize its office space requirements in London, although it will continue to be headquartered in the UK capital.
Working with Coty, Burberry Beauty is one of the company’s core divisions, along with mens, womens, children and accessories.
