With the majority of the UK population confined indoors, it stands to reason that home hairdressing is on the rise.
Supporting this, British home hair colourant brand Knight & Wilson, which includes the vibrant hair colour range Colour Freedom in its portfolio, has reported a massive 1,200% sales increase since the lockdown began.
It says it has also seen website searches skyrocket in recent weeks, with consumers taking advantage of the lockdown to trial a new hair colour.
The UK’s lockdown, part of the global attempt to stop the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus, officially began on 23 March.
On TikTok, the #quarantinehair tag has more than 395,000 views, while on Instagram #coronahair brings up 20,000 posts.
“With the country going through such a difficult time, it’s great to see some positivity and experimenting with new hair colours to add a bit of brightness to life,” said Lee Bannister, Knight & Wilson’s Hair Expert.
“With colleges and universities closed and a nation now working from home, it’s clear people are trying something new that they wouldn’t normally try.”
