Bloomingdale's, the iconic US department store chain, is honouring its beauty heritage with a series of events to celebrate its 150th anniversary.
The Makeup Date festival will include a Beauty Trend Show, which will see eight beauty brand partners – who have not been disclosed – discuss the latest launches and trends in the beauty industry for the upcoming season.
Taking place across select Bloomingdale's stores in the US on 16 September, including locations in New Jersey, Florida and California, visitors can reserve their place to receive a goodie bag with featuring samples from the participating brands, as well as a US$25 Bloomingdale's gift card.
The festival will also offer guests exclusive offers and activations at the store's beauty counters, which include the likes of Charlotte Tilbury, Tom Ford, Lancome, Clarins and more.
Meanwhile, from 15-16 September visitors to Bloomingdale's 59th Street flagship and Soho stores in New York City will be able to attend beauty masterclasses with leading make-up artists.
The festivities will continue throughout all Bloomingdale's stores on 17 September, where customers can pick up limited edition Metro Cards inspired by the retailer's iconic flagship store, which they can use for exclusive events and offers in the retailer's beauty department.
Customers can also enjoy customisation stations as well as live DJs and Manhattan-inspired coffee carts and refreshments.
"We're excited to shine a light on our beauty category as part of our 150th anniversary celebration this fall," said Marissa Galante Frank, Accessories & Beauty Director at Bloomingdale's.
"Our beauty division continues to grow rapidly, and we look forward to surprising and delighting beauty enthusiasts across the country with some of our best-selling brands, new and emerging product discoveries and coveted luxury offerings alike.
“The Makeup Date will celebrate all things beauty at Bloomingdale's in a way that embraces the hottest trends of the season."
The celebrations will kick off on 14 September with a virtual event, which will see Galante Frank join beauty editorial players Julee Wilson and Jenna Rosenstein, Beauty Directors of Cosmopolitan and Harper's Bazaar respectively, to discuss the latest trends in cosmetics and skin care.
Today, Bloomingdale's in-store and online beauty offering includes more than 100 cosmetics and fragrance brands, as well as in-store services from consultants including complimentary make-up applications, personalised skin care routines and spa treatments.
Founded by brothers Joseph and Lyman Bloomingdale in 1861, the retailer was acquired by fellow department store Macy's in 2006, and today operates 34 stores across the US as well as an international location in Dubai.
