Seaweed and plant bio-actives specialist BiotechMarine has released a Charter of Excellence to reaffirm its core values. The company hopes to go further in terms of improving industrial processes and respecting the environment, and states that its product catalogue will be adapted to meet the demanding new criteria.

BiotechMarine’s Charter of Excellence covers key areas like sustainable development, ethics, and innovation and safety. According to the charter, BiotechMarine has committed itself to reasonable management of natural resources, use of alternative technologies to cultivate seaweed in open sea and endangered marine plans in open fields, and the development of new technologies devoted to cell culture.

As far as ethics are concerned, the company stresses that it respects regulations governing the exploitation of natural resources, intellectual property regarding traditional knowledge, European and international regulations, the application of precautionary principles when a product’s innocuousness is in doubt and the principles listed in the International Labour Organization convention (IOL, 1998). It also refuses to use genetically modified products.

In addition, BiotechMarine stresses that 25% of its turnover is dedicated to innovation and the safety of its products.
