Beauty giants are rallying together to promote diversity in the US workplace.
Leaders from several major cosmetics companies have joined 250 CEOs from the business world to sign the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion pledge.
Those taking the pledge include J&J CEO Alex Gorsky; P&G Group President of Global Beauty, Grooming and Health Care David Taylor; Unilever President of North America Operations Kees Kruythoff and L’Oréal USA CEO Frédéric Rozé.
“The diversity of beauty in the world is a source of inspiration for us, and the diversity of our workforce is a strategic advantage, driving innovation and fostering creativity,” said Rozé.
“Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is at the heart of our business mission of universalising beauty.”
By joining this commitment, the beauty industry leaders have pledged to take action to create a workplace where diverse perspectives are welcomed and where employees feel encouraged to discuss diversity and inclusion.
The CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion initiative has summarised by three initial goals that aims to provoke conversation around diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
These are:
- We will continue to make our workplaces trusting places to have complex, and sometimes difficult, conversations about diversity and inclusion
- We will implement and expand unconscious bias education
- We will share best—and unsuccessful—practices.
