BASF splits care chemicals business
New business division added in preparation for integration of Cognis
In order to prepare for the integration of Cognis, BASF is splitting its care chemicals division into two separate businesses: care chemicals and nutrition & health. The newly established nutrition & health division incorporates the company’s nutrition ingredients and aroma chemicals businesses, as well as pharma ingredients & services and is headed by Walter Dissinger, formerly senior vp, crop protection, Latin America.
BASF’s personal care, hygiene, home care and industrial formulators businesses form the care chemicals division, headed by Gabriel Tanbourgi, president of the previous care chemicals division.
Both of these divisions are incorporated into BASF’s performance products segment.
In addition, Beate Ehle, currently president of BASF’s intermediates division will become president for the regional division market & business development, North America when the existing president Joseph C Breunig leaves the company at the end of August. Sanjeev Gulab Gandhi, senior vp, petrochemicals, Asia Pacific will succeed Ehle as president of the intermediates division.
