Direct-selling brand Avon has cast five female ambassadors of UK charity Changing Faces to appear in its new HerStory fragrance campaign.
The organisation provides advice and psychosocial support to anyone who has a scar, mark or condition on their face or body.
The five ‘inspiring’ women, as Avon describes them, have been cast to share their experiences of their own scars, marks and features.
Brenda was diagnosed with alopecia universalis, causing her to lose her hair when she was 14-years-old; Catrin suffered burns to 96% of her body after being involved in a coach crash; Paulette has a port-wine colour birthmark on her neck; Rhona was born with a cleft lip and palate; and Tulsi sustained second and third degree burns to 45% of her face after surviving a plane crash.
Brenda, Rhona, Tulsi, Paulette and Catrin are all ambassadors for UK charity Changing Faces
Speaking about her experiences, Tulsi said she gave up her job in hospitality after experiencing hostility.
“One company told me that my face didn’t fit their company,” she said.
“Another tried to make me work as a chambermaid, where I would be out of public view, instead of front-of-house, which is where I wanted to be. I was gutted.”
The new HerStory edp is said to represent ‘inspiration for all women’.
The fragrance’s top notes are infused with bourbon pepper, while its heart features notes of iris, which lands on a base of patchouli prisma.
Customers will be able to shop the product from 30 April via avon.uk.com for £11 and 50% of sales will be donated to Changing Faces.
