Alphabet creams
We don’t need to tell you that BB creams are everywhere; you only
need
to take a glimpse at your store’s shelves to notice that this once
well-kept Korean secret is well and truly out in the open, with
consumers going crazy for the foundation/skincare/sun protection
hybrid. But the alphabet cream trend rages on, with CC (colour
correction) creams now looking likely to become as commonplace as their
predecessors – M.A.C this month launched its Prep + Prime Colour
Correct range, with loose and pressed powders and primers in four
complexion perfecting shades. DD creams are also on the way, although
there has been some confusion over what DD stands for. Decléor has
chosen to go with Daily Defense for its new DD cream, offering
skincare, sun protection and anti-ageing benefits and designed for use
as a ‘sealant’ over regular skincare products: it’s an extra line of
defence against environmental assault. Meanwhile, Julep’s ‘dynamic
do-all’ DD Crème is more similar to its forefathers, combining the
coverage of a BB cream (but more heavy-duty) with the colour correction
of CC creams and pumped up anti-ageing benefits. What’s the betting
we’ll see an EE Cream before the year is out?
