The AirlessPackAssociation (APA) is launching a series of communication initiatives across Europe in a bid to improve public knowledge of airless designs and their advantages in terms of product dispensing and preservation.
The APA was established at the end of 2008 by Rexam, Megaplast, Lablabo and Quadpack/Yonwoo and Megaplast’s general director Lucyna Silberstein is the current president of ASA.
“Our main goal is to develop the global market for airless products, mainly through communication initiatives promoting the systems and highlighting their strengths, in particular to final consumers,” says Silberstein. “It is obvious that this kind of campaign will be helpful to brand owners – our customers – who are making the choice of innovation and added value. For us, it’s a way to accompany and support them in this direction.”
APA says it also plans to create an airless quality label that would guarantee a design complied with APA specifications. It expects to start work on this by the end of the year.
APA defines an airless design as “a non-pressurised dispensing system, combining a mechanical pump with an airless filled and sealed container, delivering the product without air aspiration. The container is either flexible or rigid, with a hose or a piston”.
