Dead Sea Mineral company Ahava has developed a Dead Sea mineral complex, Mineral Skin Osmoter, and incorporated it into a new Mineral Suncare range. The complex is said to be clinically proven to be highly effective at reducing UVB and photo-ageing damage.
“The Dead Sea region, being the lowest point of earth and having a dense and pure atmosphere, is rich in natural UV filters,” says Pat Strutt, md of Ahava UK. “The solar path is longest here and the additional layers of air molecules create a protective buffer that eliminates the harmful effects of sun radiation. Ahava looked to the available minerals and other natural ingredients harvested in the region to try to recreate this filtering effect.”
The resulting Mineral Skin Osmoter forms the core of the range that promises sun protection and anti-ageing benefits. Products also contain vitamins to fight free radicals, natural moisturisers, soothing aloe vera and other plant extracts claimed to help repair sun damage. There are three Sun Protection Anti-Ageing Moisturising Lotions (SPF 15, 30 & 50), two Sun Protection Anti- Ageing Moisturising Sprays (SPF 15 & 30), a Sun Protection Facial Moisturiser (SPF 50) and an After Sun Rehydrating Balm. The products are compliant with FDA, EC and Austalian UV standards.
