Sabinsa has analysed the pericarp of the fruits of the soapnut tree, S.Mukurossi, and has been successful in isolating saponins with antifungal activity.


Sabinsa has analysed the pericarp of the fruits of the soapnut tree, S.Mukurossi, and has been successful in isolating saponins with antifungal activity.

Among those identified are sapindosides A, B and C as well as sesquiterpene oligoglycoside and trifolioside 11.

Furthermore, two new saponins isolated from the pericarp of the fruits of Spindus emarginatus have been characterised on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic evidences.

Soapnut saponins are suitable for use in creams, lotions, gels, and cleansers for the skin as well as hair care products.
