German tube manufacturers dominate winning categories

The European Tube Manufacturers Association (etma) has announced the winners of its annual Tube of the Year competition, with Linhardt taking two of the four awards.

The German manufacturer scooped top honours in the aluminium and laminate tube categories for its tamper proof aluminium tube and Multiflex laminate tube which enables an airless dispenser system to be incorporated into the tube.

In the plastic tube category, fellow German company Tubex Rangendingen came top for its tube featuring a matte finish body and contrasting high gloss cap, while Swiss manufacturer Obrist took the award in the prototype category for its Alu-Digital-Foil-Tube, which can be reproduced on a thin plastic film of PET or PP.

Commenting on the awards, etma secretary general, Gregor Spengler said: “Even during economically difficult times the member companies have obviously continued to further develop the packaging material intensively and have invested sustainably in the future of the tube. That is very encouraging for me and sends a clear signal to the European packaging market.”
