Key role for expansion in North Africa

Global chemical distributor Univar says its legal entity in Morocco is now fully operational and will play a key role in the expansion of its business in North Africa. The business trades under the name UnivarMEA from its newly opened office in Casablanca, headed by Moroccan national, Jamal Aydoun as country manager.

The company previously serviced this territory from its operations in France, Spain and the UK and says having a local operation will enable it to strengthen existing relationships and improve the company’s and its suppliers’ presence in key markets, including personal care. Local stocking and the option of being invoiced in local currency should help supplier partners and customers. Key supplier partners include Dow Corning.

“Morocco is a developing country that has great potential in many of the markets on which we are focused. The country therefore offers significant opportunity for Univar to grow in North Africa,” said Aydoun, who has worked at the company for over 20 years.
