Unilever has teamed up with German aerosol can manufacturer Tubex to develop and manufacture an eco-friendly antiperspirant, Rexona Recycled Refreshed.

The sustainable Rexona aerosol can consists of a patented aluminium alloy and 25% post-consumer recycled (PCR) material.

The use of alloy and slight change of shape is said to make Rexona Recycled Refreshed 14% lighter than its predecessor.

This weight reduction is the result of joint development by Unilever, Tubex and the slug supplier Neuman Aluminium.

Usually cans are fully lacquered inside. This can, in contrast, is only partially (50%) lacquered, which saves additional resources.

Also, standard lacquers emit VOCs when applied. To forego the use of VOCs, Unilever used an internal powder coating instead.

To meet Tubex sustainability standards, the overspray of the powder coating is reused.
