Millennial Month kicks off at Cosmetics Business

Published: 1-Oct-2015

A month-long series of articles analysing Generation Y and its spending power

This October, Cosmetics Business is honing in on Generation Y. Representing 280 million people around the world and a predicted spending power of £8.9bn by 2020, this group of individuals – aged 18-34 in 2015 – form a cohort of beauty consumers that are more educated, connected and well-off than ever before.

As part of a special series of articles, Cosmetics Business aims to reveal what brands, retailers and marketers can do to attract today’s millennial consumer and secure their loyalty for years to come.

Next year sees the launch of the world’s first summit dedicated solely to millennials. The Millennial 20/20 business summit, due to be held from 13-14 April 2016 in Victoria House in Bloomsbury, London, will examine the rise and influence of the millennial consumer across four sectors including fashion and beauty. Viktoria de Chevron Villette, Co-founder of Millennial 20/20, said: “Change is unavoidable because the generation that is now taking control of wealth and spending has developed a very different, tech-obsessed consumer taste. Adapting and reacting has never been so necessary for any consumer related company, brand, start-up or investor.”

Topics due to be discussed during Cosmetics Business’ Millennial Month include:
Who exactly is the millennial consumer?
Securing teen dollar
From vlogger to 'social media influencer'
Marketing to millenials: A whole new beauty game
Building content marketing strategy for the beauty industry
