Consumers in Canada have been advised to stop using the Sensibio H2O product immediately

Beauty brand Bioderma has been forced to recall one of its micellar water products in Canada over concerns it is a microbial hazard.

The product in question is Bioderma’s Sensibio H2O Micellar Water makeup remover in 850ml size.

Some of the recalled products could contain a microorganism called Serratia marcescens, which can cause infections in those with weakened immune systems.

Eye infection, spots and accidental conjunctivitis are common symptoms.

Consumers have been advised to immediately stop using the product.

“We have noted a microbiological nonconformity that may affect some products of Lot No. 22414H of the 850-ml size of BIODERMA SENSIBIO H2O micellar water the ‘Product’,” the brand wrote via its website.

“This is an isolated incident. No other product [formats or lots] of the Sensibio H2O product line, or the Bioderma brand, are affected by this measure.”

“The health of our consumers is our primary concern.

“To ensure the quality requirements of our Product, and out of an abundance of caution, we are proceeding with the withdrawal and voluntary recall of all the units of Product in this lot.”

Bioderma is part of the Naos group, alongside Institut Esthederm and Etat Pur.
