Amazon is pushing ahead with its strategy to better serve its customers in the US, with a new fulfilment centre in Braselton, Georgia.
The opening of the 600,000sqft facility will create more than 500 full-time jobs, building on the 1,500 employees the company already boasts at its existing locations in the southeastern state.
Akash Chauhan, Vice President of Amazon’s North America Operations, said: “We are excited to expand in the state of Georgia and add a new fulfillment center to better serve our customers in the region. This facility will create hundreds of new jobs with competitive pay and great benefits starting on day one. From the local community to state leadership, we appreciate the tremendous support from elected officials for this project and we look forward to growing in the Peach State.”
Those working at the centre will help to select , pack and ship large items for customers across a number of product categories. Georgia ranks as the number one state in which to do business. In 2015, it was awarded this title for the third consecutive year by economic development title Site Selection magazine.
Georgia Governor Nathan Deal explained: “Georgia has a long-standing reputation for attracting leading businesses, and this project further bolsters Georgia as the nation’s number one state in which to do business. We appreciate Amazon’s commitment to creating jobs in Georgia and wish them continued success in our state.”
