La Mer has opened its largest flagship store in Hainan, China.
The 242sqm retail space is situated in the Haikou International Duty-Free Shopping Mall, and features a private VIP lounge and consultation area.
Chinese actress Qin Lan, along with senior executives from La Mer, were present for the store's ribbon cutting event.
“The story of La Mer is rooted in hope, healing and the power of the living sea,” said Patrick Bouchard, Senior Vice President, La Mer, Travel Retail Worldwide at Estée Lauder Companies.
“We are proud to bring that heritage to life in a whole new way with our newest global flagship in Hainan where consumers will be taken on a journey to the heart of luxury skin care.”
The store also contains a dedicated space for facial treatments.
“We are honoured that La Mer has partnered with us to bring such a groundbreaking luxury experience to our customers here in Haikou,” added Maggie Wang, Deputy General Manager of Haikou International Duty Free City.
“With La Mer’s reputation for premium luxury products and high-touch services, we believe our continued partnership will surprise and delight travellers here in Hainan.”
It comes after the Estée Lauder Companies-owned brand partnered with Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh for a social campaign celebrating strength and softness.
Yeoh will feature in a series of social-first films directed by Yvan Fabing, providing a view into Yeoh’s personal journey and rituals.
Yeoh received several best lead actress awards, including an Academy Award, BAFTA Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award, for her portrayal of Evelyn Wang in Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s Everything Everywhere All at Once.
“The campaign with Michelle Yeoh is a natural fit, as La Mer’s skin philosophy harnesses sea born health and energy to achieve timeless beauty,” Sandra Main, La Mer’s Global Brand President, said at the time.
“Amidst a groundbreaking year, Michelle Yeoh has also defied conventional notions of time and age, with her trailblazing career and inspirational story.”
