US retailer Macy’s has announced it is hiring a new CEO and COO for its beauty chain Bluemercury.
Marla and Barry Beck founded Bluemercury in 1999, which went on to be acquired by Macy’s in 2015.
The duo also created M-61 Skincare and Lune+Aster Cosmetics.
According to Macy’s, Barry Beck has stepped down to pursue a new entrepreneurial venture, while Marla Beck will stay with the company for a transition period.
“Bluemercury has experienced robust growth since becoming a part of Macy’s in 2015, in large part due to the vision and leadership of Marla and Barry Beck,” said Jeff Gennette, Macy’s Chairman and CEO.
“On behalf of the entire Macy’s team, I want to thank Barry and Marla for their time at Macy’s.
“We wish Barry all the best in his new endeavour and appreciate Marla’s continued commitment to the business.”
Today, Bluemercury has 167 stores across 27 states in the US, selling a variety of products from Acqua di Parma, Clinique, La Mer, Virtue and Ren, and more.
Marla Beck added: “We are grateful to have joined a company that has given us the independence and runway to grow so aggressively.
“I know Macy’s will continue to guide and support this brand into the future.”
Meanwhile, Barry Beck said: “I know we’re leaving the company in good hands and I look forward to continuing to watch the brand grow and fulfill its enormous potential.”
Macy’s is said to be looking internally and externally for candidates.
