“An innovative 20-year-old apprentice topped off a year to remember scooping the award for Young Person/ Apprentice. It was the third award of the year for Neal Wareing who works for wax experts Kerax Ltd in Chorley. He has been recognised for going the extra mile and his supervisors have been amazed at his progress.”
Neal said: “I’m overwhelmed and surprised at how successful this year has been, having won three awards, completed my apprenticeship and starting my HNC in electrical and electronic engineering next week, it’s been a very busy year!”
“From leaving secondary school I originally wanted to progress onto university, but from attending Runshaw college I realised full time education wasn’t the route for me.”
“I’ve loved my apprenticeship, it’s great learning the theory behind engineering one day a week and actually putting it into practice in such a great working environment, I think it helps greatly if you have a genuine interest in what you are doing day to day.”
Neal plans to complete his HNC in electrical and electronic engineering and achieve a bachelor of engineering (Hons). He says he’s ready for the challenge and the hard work but it’ll all be worth it in the end.
