CLR’s ProRenew Complex CLR helps support the skin in its role of providing the skin microbiota with a favourable environment in which to thrive. Its ability to do this has been supported by a new efficacy study featuring 17 volunteers with normal skin.
Microbial analysis was performed at t=0. After this the skin was tape stripped (15 strips) and microbial analysis was performed two and seven days after tape stripping on five areas. These were positive control (untreated, non stressed), negative control (untreated, stressed), placebo (1% fructooligosaccharides, FOS) and 3% ProRenew Complex CLR. Finally, microbial analysis was performed through 16S rRNA gene sequencing.
ProRenew Complex CLR was found to aid the recovery of microbial richness, ie the number of bacterial species; the recovery of microbial diversity, ie the evenness of the distribution of microbial species; and the recovery of microbial composition, both of the five main skin genera (Propionibacterium, Corynebacterium, Micrococcus, Staphylococcus and Streptococcus) and of the ten main skin species.
