French organic cosmetics company to open first UK store

France’s largest certified organic brand Melvita has announced that it is opening a stand-alone store in the UK, in London’s Covent Garden. Although Melvita products are available in the UK online and in retail outlets including Whole Foods, Harrods and John Lewis, the Covent Garden store (part of the new St Martin’s Courtyard development) will be a regional first for the brand, which has already established stores in the US, Hong Kong, Germany and Russia among other countries.

The 675-square-foot store will be modelled on Melvita’s Paris flagship – opened on Rue de Rennes earlier this year – and adhere to the environmental philosophy espoused by founder Bernard Chevilliat. Environmentally friendly materials will be used and two ‘living wall’ features and a ‘sky’ ceiling will be installed.
