New York based fragrance studio Joya has opened an industrial production facility in Brooklyn offering consumers a glimpse at what goes on behind the scene in a fragrance lab, as well as workshops and master-classes.
The brand’s first flagship location – which opened its doors in February – is located in a retrofitted 19th Century rigging garage in Clinton Hill and houses all of the company’s operations, ranging from candle, soap and ceramic production to small batch perfumery and diffuser blending, as well as a gallery and concept shop. The unorthodox retail space was designed by architecture firm Taylor and Miller, and comprises of a series of large floating steel and wood veneer surfaces suspended by rods from the ceiling.
