proDERM publishes strategies for tolerability assessment

According to European Regulation cosmetics and toiletries for babies and children require specific assessments within the testing phase of product development.

At the same time there is a lack of common, standardised methods for safety assessments such as local tolerability.

The proDERM publication 'Compatibility Testing of Cosmetics and Toiletries for Babies and Children' deals with the specific requirements of this consumer group and the corresponding test methods to assess tolerability.

Dr. Erlach et al. discuss the physiological specifications of babies and children before describing the general elements of tolerability assessments. Finally, an overview of potential test methods is provided.
