Moroccan skin care brand and luxury spa join forces for The Moroccan Hammam
Luxury spa Urban Retreat has partnered with Moroccan skin care line marocMaroc to establish The Moroccan Hammam, which will open in October 2014. Urban Retreat is located on the fifth floor of high-end London department store Harrods, and the redevelopment of Harrods' fifth floor (announced in 2012) has enabled Urban Retreat to expand, with the result being The Moroccan Hammam.
Hammams have been a part of Moroccan culture for centuries. Locals would pay weekly visits to the traditional steam rooms for a ritual based body treatment involving steaming, scrubbing and massage. The Harrods-based hammam will include a hot room to facilitate the exfoliation of dead skin cells and stimulate the immune system; seven marble rooms divided by handcrafted lattice screens; and a boutique exclusively retailing beauty products from marocMaroc. Described as the first luxury cosmetics brand hailing from Marocco, marocMaoroc launched in 2007 and offers 20 skus across five different ranges.
Treatments using marocMaroc's products will range from a 40 minute Miel d'Ambre Exfoliation for £55 to a full Indulgent Hammam with Ceremonial Massage, which lasts 130 minutes and costs £230.
