in-cosmetics Latin America to draw crowds with free-to-attend educational programme

in-cosmetics Latin America 2018 will return to São Paulo this September with the most informative educational program in the show's history, designed to equip visitors with the tools to create the next exciting wave of cosmetics products.

New to this September's show will be a two-hour Regulations Conference, in partnership with CASIC – the Council of the Cosmetic, Personal Care and Home Care Industries of Latin America. Luciana Santi, Vice-President, CASIC, will issue the keynote speech on 'Cosmetic industry: present and future of Latin America from a regulatory perspective'.

With the growth of the cosmetic industry in Latin America, products from the region are now available across the globe. Santi's presentation will discuss the importance of regulatory frameworks to keep these growth rates in a sustainable manner, while encouraging technological and innovation advances.

Roseli Mello, Director of Innovation at Natura, will then discuss cosmetic innovation and sustainable use of socio-biodiversity from her company's perspective, before all speakers will join a panel discussion to end.

Elsewhere at the show, the rising haircare segment will be addressed at the Marketing Trends theatre by Mintel's Global Haircare Analyst, Andrew McDougall. He will discuss how brands should take inspiration from the way the microbiome is being addressed in the skincare category and adapt this for hair and scalp products to appeal to health-conscious consumers.

Juliana Martins, Senior Analyst, Beauty & Personal Care at Mintel, will discuss future beauty trends from Asia, Europe and the United States that will hit Brazil over the coming years. Stick make-up formats will be top of the list as consumers look for easy-to-use products that can be applied anytime, anywhere.

Another key trend we are seeing in the cosmetics industry is the rise of ambitious smaller and start-up cosmetics brands, which have made a major impact on the industry in recent years.

A significant number of launches are coming from these new players and the splash this has made has been further evidenced by e-commerce giant Amazon announcing the launch of an Indie Beauty Shop within its Marketplace.

John Jiménez, Senior Exploration Scientist at Belcorp, will take to the well-attended Marketing Trends Theatre stage to discuss this notable movement, and what the rise of indie beauty means for the Latin American market.

in-cosmetics Latin America will also offer a two-day programme of Technical Seminars, with topics ranging from how to 'detox' hair from everyday effects of pollution and environmental stressors, delivered by Fanny Tanaka, Cosmetic Active Expert at SEPPIC, to understanding the human microbiome, which will be explored by Mathias Fleury, Global Marketing Support Manager at Givaudan Active Beauty. Fleury will focus on how to leverage skin microbiota to preserve health, beauty and well-being and share it's three-step process to achieve effective products.

The Innovation Zone, a popular area featuring product launches of the last months, will feature daily live demonstrations to give visitors visually impactful insights and ideas. Topics including the various ways of impacting the sensory features of cosmetic formulations will be covered in front of an audience. Mintel will also give six demonstrations across the two days, educating visitors on which hair and skincare products are impacting the global market.

Daniel Zanetti, Exhibition Director of in-cosmetics Latin America, commented:

"We listen to our visitors each and every year and we know that attendance to our varied free-to-attend educational features is high, as is the resulting satisfaction. We want cosmetic chemists and R&D professionals to leave in-cosmetics Latin America full of new ideas to take back to their businesses and – ultimately – to have helped inspire the next incredible raft of innovation that the cosmetics and personal care markets keep devising. It is an exciting time in the industry."
