Ten innovative ingredients chosen by industry experts


A panel of industry experts has shortlisted ten of the most innovative new cosmetics ingredients for 2012’s in-cosmetics Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Award.

Potential winners include Vincience BioHAIRapy from Ashland Specialty Ingredients, designed to help combat the effects of oxidative stress for healthier hair; Gattefosse’s Gatuline Radiance, a powerful anti-ageing active which acts on skin microcirculation; Ougon Liquid B from Ichimaru Pharcos, a tobacco extract with a high inhibitory activity of CYP1B1 induction; Buddleja davidii stems G from IRB, which contains a minimum of 0.2% verbascoside (a potent secondary metabolite) to protect the skin against UVA damage; Lipotec’s Hyanify, an exopolysaccharide derived from a marine bacterial strain that fights against dehydration and wrinkles; DermCom from Mibelle Biochemistry, which stimulates the connection between epidermal and dermal cells to boost collagen and elastin production; Atopalm Sebum Controlling Lotion from NeoPharm, containing ADefence-P, a newly adapted PAR-2 inhibitor that can reduce sebum formation and inflammatory responses in skin; skin tightening active Liftonin-Xpress from Rahn made from Porphyridium cruentum with Phycocolloids embedded in a natural polymer film matrix; and two products from Unipex Innovations and Lucas Meyer Cosmetics: Progeline – a biomimetic three amino acids peptide designed to resemble elastase inhibitor Elain – and a new anti-ageing ingredient derived from vegetable glucose called Adipofill.

The above ingredients were chosen by a panel including Grupo Boticário’s Ruandro Knapik, Esteé Lauder’s Peter Tsolis, Nick Urquhart of Nauchem Services, Linda Marshall of Elysee Cosmetics and Angela Eppler from Pfizer Consumer Healthcare.

The Gold, Silver and Bronze winners will be announced at in-cosmetics on 17 April at 6pm, at the in-cosmetics Marketing Trends Theatre.
