Urban Decay to expand into China

Brand stands by anti animal testing policy

Urban Decay has announced that it is to expand into China, despite its conflicting animal testing policy.

The make-up brand, which currently retails in the US and UK, Canada, France, Italy, Spain, Singapore and the Middle East, is well known for its anti animal testing commitment. Currently China’s policy on animal testing allows the Chinese government to conduct animal testing for cosmetic products before they are approved for use in the country. However, Urban Decay maintains that its dedication to this cause “will not waver”, and also hopes to continue its work on women’s rights.

An Urban Decay spokesperson said: “Our belief is that both an outside force and inside pressure for change can result in helping transform both the importance of women and animal testing policies in China. And more importantly, we hope to influence the perspective of the citizens on both of these issues.”
