The initiative is encouraging customers to visit local high streets and retail destinations in the run up to Christmas

More than 30 brands at King’s Cross and Coal Drops Yard have united in a campaign to support retail destinations and high streets during the busy Christmas shopping period.

Beauty brands including Space NK and Radio Hair Salon have shown their support for the ‘United We Shop’ initiative, which is asking consumers to ‘shop out to help out’ as retailers emerge from a second England-wide lockdown.

To coerce shoppers onto the high street, King’s Cross and Coal Drops Yard will be hosting exclusive offers of up to 40% ‘only in store’ discounts.

“The UK government implemented the Eat Out to Help Out scheme earlier this year as a result of the pandemic and as yet no such initiative has been developed on behalf of the retail sector who are in equal need of consumer support. Until now,” said James Rayner, Retail Lead at King’s Cross.

“Our retailers have come together to ask their valued customers and fellow Londoners to show their support and help keep our nation’s shops alive.”

From 3 December, non-essential retailers, including beauty stores and salons, will be able to welcome back customers as England re-enters a tiered system to battle the spread of Covid-19.

Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor for Business Rajesh Agrawal, said businesses continue to face enormous challenges as a result of the fight against coronavirus.

“Supporting retailers over the Christmas period will help them now and in the future, as they have a key role to play in London’s economic recovery – particularly in areas like King’s Cross and Coal Drops Yard.”
