Unilever sales slip despite profit gain

Strong progress despite complications


Despite a pre-tax 9% profit gain of €7.1bn, the Anglo-Dutch FMCG giant has seen sales fall by 30%, although much of the fall has been attributed to currency squalls.

Strip out these gusts and latest underlying Unilever sales climbed 4.3%. Hair care growth in the quarter saw “strong” performances from Dove, boosted by its Men+Care face range, TRESemmé, Sunsilk and Clear, while TRESemmé benefited from new Indian and Indonesian launches.
