Toasting the benefits of bread through fragrance

Published: 30-Oct-2013

The UK’s Federation of Bakers has created a perfume called Eau de Toast, designed to publicise the health benefits of bread and to target young women who often avoid bread because they are on a diet.

Created by scent marketing technology firm The Aroma Company, it features “yeasty top notes, with a hint of caramel combined with complementary bitter-sweet and malty base notes to help give the overall impression of freshly toasted bread,” said the Federation.

The fragrance, which was never intended for resale, was launched at London Fashion Week and given away to fashionistas in attendance and on the Federation of Bakers’s website. The 100 free samples were quickly snapped up.
