Arlington city in Virginia has been crowned the 'The Most Handsome City' in the US.

The results, which were collated by men’s personal care retailer Grooming Lounge, measured the population’s commitment to their appearance by calculating the amount spent on personal care services and products, as well as fashion and fitness.

Idaho city Boise came in second place, with Madison in Wisconsin and Seattle in Washington further down the leaderboard.

According to the results, smaller cities have taken over bigger city’s rankings with Boston and Los Angeles losing their spots in the top 25 list.

Grooming Lounge’s founder and CEO Mike Gilman said: “Our company’s singular goal is making men more handsome and as we prepare to enter our second decade in business, it’s important to understand how men throughout the country prioritise taking care of their appearance.”

Despite Arlington taking the top spot, men in Scottsdale, Arizona, were found to spend the most on personal care items and services annually, with an average of US$498.
