Houghton will work with brand on NPD, trends and digital content

The Body shop international has named lisa Houghton as its Global Makeup Artist.

Houghton, a renowned British make-up artist, will collaborate with the L’Oréal-owned brand to work on new product development, trends and creating digital content including tutorial videos.

The Body Shop’s decision to maximise Houghton’s input online is no coincidence; the make-up artist is prominent on social media with more than 20.7K followers on Instagram and 3,517 followers on Twitter.

Speaking about her appointment, Houghton said: “I share some of the same roots as The Body Shop. I grew up in East Sussex near Brighton where The Body Shop opened its first store. The Body Shop was an important influence in my youth and like every girl growing up at the time we all had to have The Body Shop in our make-up bags. My very first lip pencil was by The Body Shop. I bought many many birthday and holiday gifts at my local store.” Houghton has worked with some highly respected photographers including the likes of Glen Luchford, David Sims, Raymond Meier and Sølve Sundsbø. She has also collaborated with fashion designers including Derek Lam, Theory, Peter Pilotto and Tadashi Shoji.

Her creative make-up artistry has landed her work with prestigious magazines as well. She has had her work feature in titles including Vogue, W Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, Dazed & Confused, i-D and Love magazine.

Houghton added: “I feel so excited about working with The Body Shop. I love that the products have been produced with a 100% vegetarian formula without compromising the quality or colour pigments - quite an achievement. I want to bring the existing exceptional, extensive & versatile makeup range to the attention of a far wider audience who really care about the quality of their makeup & show the beautiful looks that can be achieved with this range.”

The Body Shop was founded in 1976 by Anita Roddick. Today it has more than 3,000 stores in over 60 countries around the globe.
