TheDrug.Store shows no signs of going to pot, opens first permanent London store

The new retail space has opened in the capital's Marylebone district

Premium CBD retailer TheDrug.Store has opened its first-ever permanent bricks-and-mortar store.

Until now the retailer has reached its customers through pop-ups in London’s Chelsea and Notting Hill regions and online.

The new Marylebone store spans two floors and is said to offer an immersive retail experience.

Its minimalistic decor is reminiscent of an art gallery and offers CBD-inspired spa treatments.

Meanwhile, the products in-store are hand selected by the brand’s founder Johan Obel and Clemens Böninger.

“We feel passionate about incorporating a careful edit of boundary pushing brands with innovative formulations of the highest quality,” said Obel.

“The product selection offers effective natural remedies to help relieve skin complaints as well as aches, tensions and other symptoms associated with a stressful modern life,” added Böninger.

Brands featured in-store include OTO, Foria, Kat’s Naturals and Medterra.

“There’s definitely a limit to the number of brands we are looking to stock," Obel told Cosmetics Business in April.

“We do try to showcase a complementary and wide portfolio in order to cater to several market segments, while still curating brands.”

He added the CBD market is set to grow significantly, but the regulations will be paramount to how the sector can develop.

Today, beauty brands with CBD are legal in the UK, provided it does not exceed more than 0.2% THC in its products.
