Students at the London College of Fashion have received prizes this month after entering an industry project competition from fragrance house CPL Aromas. The company runs the project annually to provide students with the experience of working to a brief from a real company as well as exchanging ideas and inspirations with the talent and consumers of the future.

CPL Aromas work exclusively with the London College of Fashion as industry partners exploring the close relationship between fragrance and fashion. The annual competition, which invites photography and illustration entries was open to students from a wide variety of courses including fashion styling, hair styling and make up design.

This year’s theme for the competition was ‘A Scentsational World’. The students were asked to think about how the world and its different cultures and environments introduce a wide array of aromas to the senses and how this can be shown through image.
The chosen winners for each category are:

Photography:

Portraiture winner – Romanda Smith and Jordan Spires
Innovation awards – Tian Chen and Vicky Ivie
Still life – Aleksandra Kingo
Overall photography winner – Adam Oei

Illustration:

Emerging talent – Hana Islam
Naveeya Mongkolanmakul
Over all illustration winner – Roxanne Palmer

Commenting on the work submitted, CPL Aromas creative director and perfumer, Ange Stavrevska says “The students work so hard to find the creative ways of meeting the brief and we are proud that we can provide them with an experience of working for a real company with a cash reward. Fragrance is not easily represented through image so it’s great to see how well they seem to understand the perfumery message which is conveyed through their beautiful images.”

The company will use the images submitted for advertising campaigns, calendars and their bi-annual trend magazine Forecast. The winning images can be viewed on the company social media pages.
