As part of a company-wide restructure, Belgium-based chemical company Solvay has divided the business into five operating segments. The new segments include Consumer Chemicals, which will serve the consumer products markets, along with Advanced Materials, Performance Chemicals, Functional Polymers and Corporate Business and Services.

The move is designed to make the company more agile and able to capitalise on growth opportunities, as well as innovative in sustainable chemistry, according to Solvay.

"Today's Solvay is the result of the successful integration of Solvay and Rhodia and an extensive transformation. Few groups would have been able to bring about such major changes in such a short period of time. Through the mobilisation of our teams, we have managed to convert the two former companies into one of the ten largest chemical companies worldwide," said Jean-Pierre Clamadieu, chairman of Solvay's executive committee.
