Searches for ‘vegan lipstick’ have soared on social media site Pinterest in the last 12 months.

Pinterest reported that searches were up 150% from December 2018 to 2019, while, ‘vegan lifestyle’ and ‘vegan fashion’ also increased 35% and 70%.

This increase has been put down to the growing number of conscious beauty consumers.

In 2018, The Vegan Society noted a 38% up in UK sales of vegan beauty products, while Google searches for ‘vegan beauty’ increased 150%.

Meanwhile, according to Veganuary, the charity that created the month-long plant-based diet challenge, more than 250,000 people signed up to take part in 2019.

This increase in veganism also ties into the topic of conscious consumption, which Pinterest has earmarked as a key trend in 2020.
